Digital Detox Retreat is the original tech-free personal wellness retreat where attendees give up their smartphones and gadgets in exchange for an off-the-grid experience of personal growth, serenity and bliss.

We create a space that gives individuals the freedom and permission they need to truly unplug and decompress. Participants put aside their digital arm and unplug, recharge, gain perspective, and reevaluate their relationship with digital technology. In turn, they reemerge with new found inspiration and tools to create more mindful, meaningful and balanced lives, both online and off.

Gain Mental Space & Clarity

While detaching from the often noisy world of information overload and mass media consumption, we step back into the natural rhythm of life – rediscovering what living in the moment really feels like. We all know that our minds need that time and space for reflection, however it is incredibly hard to find or create space between meetings, podcasts and text messages to do so. Once given the space during our Digital Detox retreat, the brain will begin to think in truly novel and surprising ways, and our bodies will feel more aligned; in just a few days, participants can experience improved posture, slower breathing, better sleep, increased mindfulness, a sense of feeling connected.

This mental and physical space forces us to take to pause.

We begin to take stock in life’s situation, evaluate personal relationships, think about long-term goals that may have been put on the back burner, and ponder the often elusive big picture questions of life that the stimulation of a technological life can seem to have the ability to override.

Health Benefits of Unplugging

Learning how to properly unplug is proven to reduce anxiety and stress, while decreasing depression, tech dependency, fatigue, and information overload. And building healthy relationships with our digital devices will determine the future success and sustainability of our companies, personal wellness and collective happiness. Digital Detox programming provides a framework for individuals to truly understand the benefits and best practices of unplugging. Immediate and longterm results include increase in creativity and efficiency, enhanced teamwork and empathy/gratitude, personal growth, lower blood pressure and heart rate, and developing more rejuvenating sleep.

We explore the physical, psychological and social benefits of unplugging and share a dialogue on how we can stay grounded in what often feels like an “always-on, constantly connected, never-ending” digitally-driven world.

YOGA + MEDITATION 

Start the mornings off with Yoga and Meditation led by our experienced instructors. We will focus on vital breathing, conscious movement, increased balance and the liberation of the spine and mind. Using the tools of Hatha, Kundalini, and Vinyassa Flow Yoga, with Pranayama Breathing, and Asana practice, we will tap into our body’s true potential and explore the vibrant healthy energy in our lives. 

Classes are geared towards beginners and advanced students alike. Our instructors teach for all levels and abilities, with the goal to develop the individual and one’s sense of well-being. We will use a mix of both familiar asanas as well as introduce more challenging poses, with variation and specific focus given to each student and their ability.

As retreats are small in number, we are able to truly encourage each student to listen to his/her own unique body; we believe that with the right guidance, the students are really their own best teachers. Each Hatha Yoga Session will include a synergetic mix of the five traditional elements:

1) Pranayama Yoga Breathing: exercises for vitality

2) Yoga Asana: anatomically aligned posture and structurally balanced

3) Relaxation: how to deal effectively with stress

4) Yoga Meditation: non-religious

5) Yoga philosophy: positive, uplifting and life affirming.

Just after a few days, you will be comfortable with a basic yoga routine to incorporate into your daily life.

ART + WRITING

Without the ability to “Command Z” undo, analog art gives participants the ability to create spontaneously; what we do can not be deleted or erased. We explore how writing or creating can impact your life (and your mind), and simply enjoy the nostalgia of hands-on-crafts as interesting way to bring out the child in you. Our Workshops are a fun and exciting way to make something that you can bring home to family and friends; from watercolor to print making, solar carving to sun art, or simple moj-poj and personal friendship bracelets.

. Existential discussion about “undo” are sure to arise.

WORKSHOPS

There’s something special about making something delicious with our own two hands.

Return home with a surprise for your family and friends, a new recipe to share or some homemade bread to boot. We’ll dig our fingers into 20+ ingredients and learn how to make Raw Truffles. We’ll laugh in a game of improv or teach you a new skill to take home with you. Our series of workshops are fun and tasty, and meaningful. All based on the concept of presence, mindfulness and being in the moment. (Typically only on three night retreats)

Our retreats are designed to be personal growth and getaway retreats for individuals.

These are not networking events, conferences where people exchange business cards, or meet-ups where we create opportunities to make contacts that further our careers. There will be no cocktail hour or welcoming reception for anyone to explain what they do, play the “we know the same people” game, or try and figure out how they can connect again after they return to the workplace. Instead, we create an atmosphere for personal development, creative thinking, liberation from technology, and a space from the working world where we can all once again be… human. We give our minds the time to think deeply, our bodies the chance to relax, and our natural surrounding the opportunity to engulf us.

With that being said, expect a good balance of structured and free time; giving the opportunity for as much introspection as reflection.  By the end of the weekend, you will most likely make deep connections with other participants (if you choose so), as we will all have shared in an amazing experience off the grid. And as group activities will be core to some of our daily activities, some passive such as yoga or hiking, while others active like learning to cook or a group discussion regarding technology, it is inevitable that we will all make connections. However these connections won’t be based on our career choices or media, or on a facebook post we liked or tweeted, but on a shared experience with incredible impact.
